As a temporary solution to Tina Tenrec and Quasifrodo 's dilemma, we have placed Quasi outside in a puppy pen on the lawn, while Tina stays in the regular enclosure. I know that temperature fluctuation can trigger hibernation in hedgehogs, but in South African summers, the temperature is relatively stable, even at night. Thus, while the weather allows it, Quasi lives outdoors. Tina stays in the "mansion" (as I call the regular enclosure), enjoying the freedom. Her confidence is much more than it was when Quasi lived in the mansion too. I am constructing a winter cage for Quasi, for when it gets chilly, so that the two may remain separate.
